Becoming

I quit making new year’s resolutions. You know, those promises you make to yourself that you have forgotten all about by February. Right now, most of us are looking forward to a lovely relaxing summer and trying to stay cool. But what about self-improvement?

Instead of resolutions, I choose a word to focus on throughout the year. A word I can recall when I want to remind myself about what I am becoming. This year, I chose two words – growth and gratitude. When I slip into old habits, I remind myself that I am grateful and think about what I must do daily to become more me.

This year has been a good change and much growth for me. I know there is more ahead, but I can only take it one day at a time, and today, I am growing, and for that, I am grateful.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law” Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV).
